For many hardware devices to work on a Windows 7 system, they must have the appropriate version of driver installed; otherwise, the operating system will not recognize such devices. Sometimes you may need to update device drivers, find new ones or simply check if the currently installed ones are working properly. Start by finding out what drivers your Windows 7 system is running.
Step 1 - Access the Control Panel by clicking the Windows 7 "Start" menu button and selecting "Control Panel" on the right side of the Start menu.

What are Drivers and why do I need them?
Software Drivers are essentially small pieces of code which enable communication between your computer and a device (such as an audio device, USB, printer etc.). If everything is working well, you won’t even notice your software Drivers and they will just do the job they are supposed to do.
However, when there is a problem with the Drivers, this can cause issues ranging from erratic behaviour in the device in question to a complete failure of the device to work as expected.
If your computer is no longer seeing your printer, your speaker stops working or a USB device is not recognised, the problem may well be a Drivers one. To fix this problem you need to update the software Drivers in question.
